NCCP Overview
National Coach Certificiation Program (NCCP)
The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is Canada’s national system for training and certifying coaches. It is delivered through a partnership between the Coaching Association of Canada, national sport organizations, and provincial/territorial sport bodies. The NCCP provides coaches with education in areas such as athlete development, safety, ethics, and performance, ensuring consistent coaching standards across sports and levels in Canada.
Safe Sport Education with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is required for all NCCP certifications to ensure coaches understand their responsibility to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive sport environment, prevent maltreatment, and uphold national ethical standards that protect participants
Community Sport Coach
NCCP Community Sport Coach is for coaches who work with beginners in recreational or community programs. The focus is on safety, fun, inclusion, and basic skill development, not competition or high performance. Coaches are trained (and sometimes certified) to create a positive, safe sport experience for all participants. The pathway towards certification as a Community Sport Coach:
